About

Welcome to my practice!

I’m Ujala, a Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London. I currently work in a Cystic Fibrosis service within the NHS, and I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

I have over six years of experience working across the lifespan, with children, young people and adults. I use an integrative approach, drawing from a range of different therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and aspects of Mindfulness.

I have had previous training in Narrative Exposure Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (Khalil Centre). I am currently training with Forward to Health, lead by Dr Mazen Atassi, on ‘Healing Trauma’ from a holistic, Islamic paradigm.

I work with a range of difficulties, such as:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety (including health, social, panic disorder)

  • Self-harm behaviours

  • Emotional regulation

  • Stress and burnout

  • Bereavement, grief

  • Self-esteem issues

  • Peer relations or difficulties in school/at work

  • Supporting a family/friend with mental health problems

I specialise in supporting adults, young people and children coping with mental health problems related to their health condition. I also offer sibling and parental support, recognising the impact of health challenges on families.

My previous work spans a variety of specialities, including:

  • Diabetes

  • Chronic pain

  • Respiratory (e.g., such as cystic fibrosis)

  • Gastroenterology (e.g., IBD, IBS, Crohn’s)

  • Medically unexplained symptoms (MUS)

I am able to work flexibly to ensure sessions are accessible for people with Autism, ADHD or other intellectual disabilities.
